Counterhegemony under construction

Informed by research conducted for the Revisiting Ditró, Racial Capitalism and Immigration, and our various partner projects, this essay series aims at communicating Romanian – and Hungarian – speaking audiences a critique of the most pressing social, economic, political, and cultural issues pervading Romanian society under the hegemony of progressive neoliberalism. The essays have been classified in the following manner:

    1.  Neoliberal populism and anti-corruption discourse
    2.  Racial capitalism under progressive neoliberalism
    3.  Race and ethnicity as forms of exclusion: Hungarians, immigrants, and the Roma.
    4.  Alternatives of economic policy and political cycles in Romania
    5.  Transylvanian Hungarians, between liberalism and neoliberalism
    6.  The rise of an illiberal counter-hegemony? The case of AUR and the sovereigntist movement
    7.  Representing the working class under progressive-neoliberal hegemony
    8.  Performances of self-description and the aesthetic production of neoliberal hegemony
